Since being in Argentina, I have had nothing but amazing expereinces and feelings. This could be one of my favourite countries I have ever been too. I just spent the last four days in the capital city (one of the largest in the world) and I was nervous it would change my perspective of the country. It enhanced my love for this country. This city is absolutly amazing, with so many things to do, and so much authentic culture entwined in a big city setting. This blog will be dedicated to all the adventures I did while in this city.

I was staying at an airbnb (bed number 17 of the year) that was located in a perfect location downtown. This allowed me the ability to walk everywhere or take the subway. The first day I went to a few places. The first stop was a theatre that was shut down, but saved and refurbished into a huge library and bookstore. It was amazing walking in and seeing a detailed building and theatre with thousands of books on so many levels. Near this theatre is a famous pizza resturant. I was told by every person whose been to Buenos Aires (Argentinian people as well) that this was the best resturant in the city. I arrived at 2pm and the line was already out the door. Eventually after a wait, we got a table. The environment of this place was amazing. The staff had clearly been doing this forver as it was all down to a system. The customers were a mix of business people, tourists, locals all enjoying a pizza for lunch. The walls are covered in pictures all showing people from Argentina and the menu was one of those old school letter boards hung on the wall. We got pepsi and a large pizza. WOW, this was one of the best things I have ever eaten. It was delicous and so worth the wait. After that, although so full and could barely walk we continued on, and stopped at a mueseum of art. We saw some cool pieces, including originals from Monet, Picasso, and Van Gogh. Truth be told I am not a huge art person but seeing these famous names I am always very appreciative.

The next day we went to a muesum that had an exhibit on Frida Kahlo. This was absoloutey incredible to see some of her original pieces and read about her and her impact on female history. This day was all about wandering around and we walked through three of the cities parks, all unique and individual. Still a crazy day of walkng but with so much culture around you never get bored.

Our final full day was one of the best days of my trip. We began by going to a famous street market that is massive, it has amazing booths and shops filled with cool Argentinian items. After walking this street for a few hours we headed to see the futball stadium. Once again I am not a huge soccer fan but this club is third in all time championships ever. Every shop around the stadium was painted blue and yellow and you could see the pride this place has with this soccer team. Almost like the rider fan base on steriods. After this we continued our walk to a part of town know for its bright colours. La Boca neighbourhood is full of houses, shops and sidewalks all painted in bright colours. This area is so vibrant with the colours, but also with the music and tango dancers on the streets. It was so fun to explore and take in all the sights. I enjoyed a nice coca cola (my favourtie thing to drink in south america) while watching a couple dance the tango. I was so happy this whole day and it just kept getting better and better.

The last evening after such a fun day was one that I will never forget. I got to expereince an argentian tango show in the capital of Argentina. We got a private shuttle to this beautiful theatre where we were greeted by the hosts in beautiful gowns and tuxedos. This was partly embarrasing becasue living out of a backpack, I left my gown and heels at home. I walked into this beuatiful theatre in my flower romper and birkenstocks, my fanciest outfit I have. Once inside the theatre we were lead to a table right in the center and two rows back from the stage, the most amazing spot. We got wine service and empanadas while we waited for the show. The show began and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. it was better then I imagined. There was a live band playing the show who were incredible, then two amazing singers who performed solos and added so much to the story of the show. Then the five amazing couples aall putting on beiatuil tango dances. There were group numbers and solos and each one with a new costume and story. I never wanted it to end. Once the show was over we headed home. I was exhuasted from the full day but on cloud nine becasue this city grabbed my heart.

On the final morning we did one more walking tour and visited a historical cemetery. It was interesting to see the site of famous presidents and actors and doctors. It was a cemetery but it seemed like a museum and was full of stunning sculptures and art.

Overall, I would highly recommend anyone looking for a new, exciting place to visit for a holiday to go to Buenos Aires, it exceeded all expecations and has become one of my all time favorite places. I could go on and on about each of the above mentioned expereinces as they each deserve their own post but to sum it up, it was all incredible.

You’re doing an amazing job of describing everything you’re seeing and experiencing and painting a picture for all of us that read your posts even though you feel it falls short. Thank you for taking the time to provide these updates and I look forward to your next one!!!
