What an amazing day! I woke up with the sun at 5am to be ready for a day full of adventure. After a short Uber and bus ride, I arrived at the dock.

Side note , it’s cold here and at 6 in the morning it’s even colder. I’m not used to the cold anymore so this trek was a cold one 🥶
We got on the boat and began the 45 minute boat ride to the island. On the way we were fortunate enough to spot a sei whale (the second fastest whale in the world) passing through the sea. After a really nice calm ride we came upon the island. The excitement was overflowing as we started to spot penguins swimming in the water around us.

We got off the boat and got onto the island. The first step onto the island and you are surrounded by the cutest little Magellan penguins. We had an hour to explore the island and see the penguins in their natural habitat. We were told to always stay 2 meters away from the penguins but what do you do when they walk right up to you?

The island had a few different kinds of birds as well and they all lived peacefully on this island. The only man made thing was a beautiful lighthouse at the top.

The thing about being in nature is you see the good and the bad. Our guide told us about predator birds that would eat the babies of the other animals on the island and we unfortunately saw a baby bird get taken. It is so crazy to me to be in a place not disturbed by humans and to see the actual cycles of nature occur.
We wondered around the island and listened and watched the penguins interact.

We then boarded the boat and took a short ride over to an island inhabited by 500 sea lions. I couldn’t get many pictures of these animals but they were so cool to learn about and see in person.

Overall another amazing day. I highly recommend if you ever get a chance to see penguins, go and do it!
